Ghana Rush Sports Club Joins the Rush Family
January 5, 2010
As we ring in a new year, Rush Soccer is pleased to announce the addition of a new partner club to the Rush family. Rush now has a partner in Ghana in western Africa!
The Rush Sports Club in Ghana has been in existence for the past two years under the name Barca Club. The club’s members/players, range in age from 5 to 18 and all are from low socio-economic backgrounds. Membership in the club has been as high as 80 but currently sits around 40 players due to limited equipment and financial support. There is a large contingent of youth in the area that can benefit greatly from being part of the Rush.
“Rush Sports Ghana is extremely excited to join the Rush. This opportunity will benefit us tremendously in many ways,” said Ahmed Agyeman, Co-founder and Manager of the Ghana Rush. “We will offer a strong youth soccer development program for both girls and boys, increase the number of youth that will benefit from the program, grow our club both on and off the field and develop the youth of Ghana in a positive way.”
For many of the clubs current 40 plus members, affiliation with the club has been a major benefit in terms of educational and social development as well as building team and leadership skills on and off the soccer field.
Ghana Rush Co-founder and Manager Senyo Gavu believes the new partnership will be beneficial saying, “We expect to take advantage of this partnership to help us develop and maintain a high quality youth soccer development program that will graduate leaders on and off the field.” He continued, “We expect to grow stronger and be recognized as the premier soccer academy in Ghana and eventually lead to growth in membership (within Ghana and other parts of West-Africa).”
“Rush Soccer is very excited about our new partner in Ghana,” commented Rush Soccer Technical Director Andrew Kummer. He continued, “Growing internationally creates some new challenges for us, but to expose our brand to other parts of the world is a wonderful opportunity for Rush Soccer. What I look forward to most is building a relationship with fellow coaches and players that have an incredible passion for the game.”
